Access to care is a key to helping people improve their health and vitality, which in turn fuels greater work productivity. Sometimes the best place for that care is the workplace.

Research from Mercer finds employer-sponsored health centers – on-site clinics – are a key health and benefits strategy that provides an advantageous return on investment (ROI) to organizations. Among survey respondents that measured ROI, 43% reported a ROI of 1.5:1 or greater and 31% reported an ROI of 2:1 or greater. With 69 onsite health care centers, including the newest one in Baltimore County, Maryland, Evernorth Workplace Care helps Cigna Healthcare clients make quality care more accessible for their employees.

“The partnership between Evernorth and Cigna Healthcare exemplifies the power of collaboration and innovation in addressing the unique needs of our clients,” said Kimberly Funderburk, president of Government, Education, and Health Systems for Cigna Healthcare. “The Baltimore County Employee Health Center is a prime example of how our integrated approach brings workplace care solutions to life, making quality health care more accessible and impactful. Together, we’re delivering innovative services that enhance employee well-being and demonstrate the ongoing value of our long-standing relationship with Baltimore County.”

The Employee Health Center is staffed by a nurse practitioner, medical assistant, and an on-site registered nurse and health coach who provide dedicated care for approximately 35,000 Baltimore County employees, with plans to open it to community college and public school employees in the future. Care options range from immunizations and acute/urgent care visits to wellness coaching.

The Employee Health Center has been busy since opening in October. Nearly 60 patients were seen within the first two weeks.

“We are proud of the collaboration with our Cigna Healthcare partners and how it has continued to bring value to our Baltimore County client, including the opening of our latest Wellness Center and coaching solution,” said Jeff Perry, president and general manager of Evernorth Workplace Care. “Baltimore County’s leadership and staff have been fantastic partners throughout the building and launching of the center. This solution represents a significant investment by the county and demonstrates their strong commitment to the health and well-being of their employees."
