Cigna Health Care Exchange Plans Now Available in 19 Markets Across 10 States
Consumers pay $0 for eligible in-network preventive care and will have expanded online access to doctors at no additional cost
Individuals with diabetes will have expanded benefits, including a $25 cap for a 30-day supply of preferred brand insulin
Consumers will also have 24/7 support through Cigna's ‘available anytime’ customer service line

BLOOMFIELD, Conn., 18 September, 2019 - Global health service company Cigna is expanding its individual health care exchange offerings to new geographies for 2020, with health plans now available in 19 markets across 10 states. This includes expansion into select counties in Kansas, South Florida and Utah as well as new counties in Tennessee and Virginia.

Cigna's plans on the individual health care exchanges will include a number of features that provide access to quality health care and encourage individuals to live a healthy life – all while holding down out-of-pocket costs. Cigna customers will be able to access preventive care services* and will have expanded online access to doctors through Cigna's telehealth service** at no additional cost to them. Beginning in 2020, eligible customers will be able to obtain a 30-day supply of preferred brand insulin for no more than $25 through Cigna’s Patient Assurance Program.

Additionally, to encourage consumers to take charge of their health, Cigna will provide its customers discounts for services such as gym memberships and nutrition support – and is also introducing a loyalty program in several markets. Customers earn rewards under the loyalty program by completing activities such as selecting a primary care physician and completing an assessment designed to help them understand and manage their health risks.

“More people who purchase health care coverage on the exchange now will have access to Cigna’s broad range of products and services that makes quality health care more accessible and affordable,” said Brian Evanko, president of Cigna's government business. “We’ve learned from our thoughtful approach and continuous presence on the exchange how to deliver a great product with a simplified customer experience. We are proud to be able to deliver our exceptional offering to even more people throughout the U.S.”

Cigna customers will also receive ‘available anytime’ support through Cigna's 24/7 customer service and access to health and wellness resources through Cigna.com and the myCigna® app. Eligible customers with complex health needs will also be provided personalized support from a single point of contact through Cigna's My Personal Champion program.

Customers in Phoenix will have access to the Cigna Medical Group, which includes more than 140 primary care and specialty doctors at 20 locations, hearing and vision centers and other specialty services, as well as onsite pharmacies and urgent care centers open 365 days a year.

“Caring for the health and well-being of our customers is a responsibility that we take very seriously,” said Lisa Lough, general manager of Cigna’s individual and family plans business. “All of the services and support that we are able to provide our customers is only possible with the close and collaborative relationship that we have with our physician partners across the country. It is in partnering with these physicians, many of whom are in value-based care arrangements, that we are able to help our customers enjoy healthier and more productive lives.”

In 2020, Cigna is offering individual and family plans on the health care exchange for select counties in 10 states: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee, Utah and Virginia.

People interested in enrolling in an individual or family plan on the marketplace may do so during the 2020 Open Enrollment Period (OEP) that begins Nov. 1. Open enrollment on the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace continues through Dec. 15. Health plans purchased during OEP are effective Jan. 1, 2020. People in Colorado may enroll in a plan on the state’s health insurance marketplace, where open enrollment continues through Jan. 15, 2020.
