Cigna Healthcare and the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce have joined forces to offer exclusive health benefit plans to small businesses. Their partnership gives Chamber members an exclusive 2% discount on Cigna Healthcare’s level-funded health plans, which offer the cost-effective advantages of self-funding along with the financial predictability of fully funded plans.
“Many small business owners are so focused on managing their operations that they often do not have adequate time to research and evaluate employee benefit plans,” said John Webb, president of Cigna Healthcare Tri-South. “Having the Chamber and Cigna do a lot of this work on the front end can be a tremendous help. It also ensures businesses have a quality, cost-effective benefit option for their employees, with business owners working with a team they can trust to have their best interests in mind.”

Healthy and productive employees drive business growth, said Rob Recker (pictured left), president of Chamber Benefits, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Greater Memphis Chamber that is responsible for providing benefit programs to Chamber members. “Cigna’s traditional and level-funded offerings provide small business owners with a robust range of options to best address their health plan needs to keep their employees healthy and productive,” he said.
Over 90% of the Chamber’s members are small businesses, making the new benefit widely applicable. The health plans are fully integrated, with medical, behavioral, and pharmacy benefits. They feature local and national network options, offering flexibility to fit the small business’s specific needs. Cigna Healthcare’s robust network of doctors, specialists, and hospitals includes 98% of practicing physicians in the Memphis metro area.
For Chamber member companies seeking traditional insurance solutions, Cigna Healthcare provides fully insured small group health plans designed for businesses with at least one qualified full-time (or full-time equivalent) employee, apart from the business owner or their spouse.
Heavily invested in the Memphis community
The partnership with the Chamber reinforces Cigna Healthcare’s dedication to the Memphis community. In addition to providing health and wellness benefits to employees of the local school district, utility company, and county government, the organization has partnered with local stakeholders to improve the health and vitality of all Memphis residents.
Cigna Healthcare is a key player in the Healthier 901 initiative, a community program led by Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare that aims to address Memphis’s high obesity rate by improving nutrition and lifestyle habits across the city. The company is also a major sponsor of the Memphis Medical District Collaborative’s annual wellness festival, providing resources and support to promote health in areas with high social needs. In addition, Cigna Healthcare helps fund the new Georgette & Cato Johnson YMCA and Early Learning Center in Memphis, as part of their nationwide efforts to improve community vitality by fostering the health and well-being for local youth. The organization also contributes to food security efforts such as the Mid-South Food Bank, offering financial support and volunteers to help provide nutritious food to those in need.
“Cigna’s powerful community presence, through its leadership and workforce, reinforces the importance of the business community working together for a collective goal that prioritizes improving the health and well-being of the community,” Recker said. “Our small business community benefits knowing the Chamber worked on their behalf to get the best plans at the best prices with the best health plan carrier in the market – a partner that is heavily invested in the community and is committed to building a healthier workforce.”
