Cigna has earned recognition among the Top 50 diverse, inclusive and equitable companies in the nation by DiversityInc This year Cigna ranked 42.

Cigna was honored May 5 at the first-ever virtual DiversityInc event. This year marks the first time the company was recognized as a combined organization, and acknowledges both Cigna's and Express Scripts’ long history of building a diverse and inclusive workforce. Express Scripts was recognized as a Top 50 company in 2018 and 2019, and as a Noteworthy 25 company in 2017.

“This award is an exciting moment for Cigna, and is evidence of the progress we are making to advance an inclusive culture that is powerfully diverse, strives for equity, and values our unique differences and talents,” said Susan Stith, vice president of diversity, inclusion, civic affairs and the Cigna Foundation. “We’re proud to be recognized for all the ways we are embedding diversity and inclusive practices across our company, so that we can deliver on our mission for the customers, partners and communities we serve.”

The DiversityInc. Top 50 list, issued annually since 2001, is a prestigious award recognizing the nation's top companies for diversity and inclusion management. These companies excel in areas such as hiring, retaining and promoting women, minorities, veterans, people with disabilities, and people in the LGBT community. The award also recognizes senior leadership commitment and supplier diversity. Companies with at least 1,000 employees in the United States may participate, and more than 1,000 companies completed the free survey.
