Cigna Recognized as One of America's Greatest Workplaces for Diversity by Newsweek

Bloomfield, Conn., January 27, 2023 – Cigna Corporation (NYSE: CI) today announced the organization was named a top workplace for diversity, earning the highest possible score in a study by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights.

“A diverse and inclusive workplace allows us to leverage our different perspectives and experiences to better serve our customers, clients, and communities,” said Eliana Nunez, vice president of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Cigna. “Now, more than ever, it’s critical that we continue to push ourselves to achieve true diversity, equity, and inclusion. When we focus on driving inclusion and equity and empower each other to celebrate our differences, it helps us drive greater value for all those we serve.”

Some of the actions that Cigna has taken to develop a diverse workforce include:

Attracting and Retaining Top Talent: Cigna has training, processes, and procedures in place to help ensure all decisions related to recruiting, hiring, promotion and all other personnel actions are made without regard to an individual’s race, color, religion, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation. This includes diverse slates for external candidates at manager-level and above roles. The organization is also committed to elevating the next set of diverse leaders and is committed to increasing the number of women in our director and senior director roles to 50% by 2024.

Leadership Development: Cigna has partnered with CALIBR, a leadership development organization and professional network dedicated to accelerating readiness of mid-level Black professionals for senior executive roles, develop Black talent through specialized training, coaching, mentoring, and networking opportunities.

Enterprise Resource Groups (ERGS): Cigna has 11 ERGs that help foster an inclusive environment for a wide range of employee groups, create a safe space for employees to bring their whole selves to work, and help educate the business on the unique skills that our diverse communities have to offer. These groups also spearhead professional development opportunities and help shape our DEI strategy across our enterprise. There are 13,000 employees that participate in these groups.

Business Accountability: Cigna launched its Enterprise Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council in 2021. The Council is driving organizational change by integrating DEI into our business strategies and objectives.
